குட்டிக்கதை:
ஒரு கிராமத்தில் ஏழை விவசாயி ஒருவன் வாழ்ந்து வந்தான். அவன் தன் வீட்டுத் தேவைக்காகத் தினமும் ஆற்றிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் எடுத்து வருவதை வழக்கமாகக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.
தண்ணீர் எடுத்து வர அவன் இரண்டு பானைகளை வைத்திருந்தான். அந்தப் பானைகளை ஒரு நீளமான கழியின் இரண்டு முனைகளிலும் தொங்க விட்டு, கழியைத் தோளில் சுமந்து செல்வான்.

இரண்டு பானைகளில் ஒன்றில் சிறிய ஓட்டை இருந்தது. அதனால் ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் வீட்டிற்கு வரும் பொழுது, குறையுள்ள பானையில் பாதியளவு நீரே இருக்கும்.
குறையில்லாத பானைக்குத் தன் திறன் பற்றி பெருமை. குறையுள்ள பானையைப் பார்த்து எப்பொழுதும் அதன் குறையைக் கிண்டலும் கேலியும் செய்து கொண்டே இருக்கும்.
இப்படியே இரண்டு வருடங்கள் கழிந்து விட்டன. கேலி பொருக்க முடியாத பானை அதன் எஜமானனைப் பார்த்துப் பின் வருமாறு கேட்டது.
"ஐயா! என் குறையை நினைத்து நான் மிகவும் கேவலமாக உணர்கிறேன். உங்களுக்கும் தினமும் என் குறையால், வரும் வழியெல்லாம் தண்ணீர் சிந்தி, உங்கள் வேலைப் பளு மிகவும் அதிகரிக்கிறது. என் குறையை நீங்கள் தயவு கூர்ந்து சரி செய்யுங்களேன்"
அதற்கு விவசாயி, "பானையே! நீ ஒன்று கவனித்தாயா? நாம் வரும் பாதையில், உன் பக்கம் இருக்கும் அழகான பூச்செடிகள் வரிசையைக் கவனித்தாயா? உன்னிடமிருந்து தண்ணீர் சிந்துவது எனக்கு முன்னமே தெரியும். அதனால்தான் வழி நெடுக பூச்செடி விதைகளை விதைத்து வைத்தேன். அவை நீ தினமும் சிந்திய தண்ணீரில் இன்று பெரிதாக வளர்ந்து எனக்கு தினமும் அழகான பூக்களை அளிக்கின்றன. அவற்றை வைத்து நான் வீட்டை அலங்கரிக்கிறேன். மீதமுள்ள பூக்களை விற்றுப் பணம் சம்பாதிக்கிறேன்"
இதைக் கேட்ட பானை கேவலமாக உணர்வதை நிறுத்தி விட்டது. அடுத்தவர் பேச்சைப் பற்றிக் கவலைப் படாமல் தன் வேலையைக் கருத்துடன் செய்யத் தொடங்கியது
நீதி: அடுத்தவர் பேச்சைப் பற்றிக் கவலைப் பட்டால், நாம் எந்த வேலையையும் செய்ய முடியாது.!!!See More

Markandeya
Markandeya was a great devotee of Lord Siva. His father Mrikandu performed rigorous
austerities to get a son. Lord Siva appeared before him and said: “O Rishi, do you want a good son
who will die in his sixteenth year or a bad and foolish son who will live for a long time?” Mrikandu
... replied: “O my venerable Lord, let me have a good son”.
The boy came to know about his fate and began to worship Lord Siva whole-heartedly with
intense faith and devotion. The boy entered into deep meditation and Samadhi on the day decreed as
the day of his death. The messengers of Lord Yama were not able to approach him. Hence, Yama
himself went to take away his life. The boy prayed to Lord Siva for protection and embraced the
Linga. Then Yama threw his noose round the Linga and the boy. Lord Siva came out of the Linga
immediately and killed Yama to protect the boy. Lord Siva was called Mrityunjaya and Kala-kala
from that day.
Then the Devas approached Lord Siva and said: “O adorable Lord, salutations unto Thee.
Pardon Yama for his mistake. O ocean of mercy, bring him back to life”. Then Lord Siva brought
Yama back to life at the request of the gods. He also conferred a boon to the boy Markandeya that he
should live for ever as a boy of sixteen years of age. He is a Chiranjivi. In South India, even now
men and women bless a boy when he does prostration to them: “Live as a Chiranjivi like
Markandeya”.
Through Tapas and meditation you can achieve anything in the three worlds.See More

Mahaperiyavaa Incident ~ Anna Dhaana Prabhu
A wealthy landlord in Thanjavur District had undertaken the bhiksha on that day. Paramacharya had ordered him to prepare a large number of laddus.
Only a small group of people which included Sri Mattam officials and the family and relatives of the host was present for the dinner on that day. The landlord could not understand the reason for the large number of laddus. Perhaps Paramacharya wished to send the pack to an orphanage or a vedic institution, he thought.

Paramacharya supervised the dinner’s rows. He ordered for serving two and more laddus to each diner, even if they were in excess, ignoring the individual’s protests.
After making another strange announcement, Paramacharya went to his room. The announcement was that it was not compulsory to eat all the laddus though Periyavaa himself ordered it, and that the excess numbers might be wasted!
Nobody could understand the strange announcement from Paramacharya who usually advises children that Anna Lakshmi should not be sent to the dust bins. Everyone had to leave the excess number of laddus on their banana leaves.
Since it was an order from Paramacharya, the laddus were made professionally, embedded with cashew nuts, dry grapes, clove, and cardamom. Now these embedding from the leftover laddu globes were winking at the landlord, who tried to pacify his mind that Paramacharya would not order anything without a valid reason.
Later, during his conversation with the host, Paramacharya told the landlord, “Go and check the backyard where the leftovers are thrown.”
When the landlord went to the backyard, he saw families of the " Kurava clan " avidly eating the left over laddus. As they saw the landlord, they heartily thanked him for the tasty dish that was never before served to them.
The landlord felt happy and grateful. When he returned to Paramacharya, the sage said, “As per their kula dharma, these kurava clan prefer only ucchishttam. They would not consent to have an anna dhaanam. Such is the rule among them. Don’t they have the same mouth and stomach as we? It occurred to me to give them the same kind of laddus that we have in our dinner. And I thought only you could do it well. Now, only you have their good wishes.”
